Robert Half surveyed more than 440 Generation Z workers and found 55% plan to look for a new job before year end, up from under a third a year earlier. Among them, 56% want better perks and benefits and 53% expect higher pay elsewhere.

A team led by MIT physics professor Marin Soljacic, with postdoc Sachin Vaidya and graduate student Seou Choi, built an autonomous system that assembles and aligns optical components to micron precision and re-aligns itself when disturbed. It completed 50 maneuvers to build a functioning laser cavity in 30 minutes, presented at the IROS robotics conference.

Farnaz Niroui's group at MIT, with Peter Satterthwaite, Sarah Spector and Jeremiah Johnson, built nanoscale devices from a polymer layer only 2 nanometers thick pressed between metal electrodes. The layer builds up charge until it hits a threshold and fires like a neuron, merging memory and processing, published in Science Advances.

Why this mattersSplitting memory from processing is what makes a system slow and costly, in silicon and in an HR stack. The same split shows up when records live in one tool and workflows live in another. Count how many systems hold the same employee record today.

MIT's delta v accelerator held its 15th Demo Day on September 16, where 13 teams chosen from more than 200 applications, double last year's count, presented after a summer on 75,000 dollars each in equity-free support. Talys, working on healthcare spending, has processed 325 million dollars.
